Practical answers about how career coaching with BreakEven Life works.
Common questions
For policy detail, see the Terms & Conditions and services overview.
What is career coaching?
Career coaching is a structured, one-to-one engagement that helps you make deliberate decisions about your career. At BreakEven Life, coaching is practical and outcome-focused: we assess your situation, build a plan, and work through it across regular sessions. It is not motivational speaking, and it is not a guarantee of a particular outcome.
Who is this for?
Mid-career technology and finance professionals — including delivery managers, project managers, consultants and senior developers — who are navigating a career transition, rebuilding professional confidence, or recovering from burnout at work.
How is coaching different from therapy?
Coaching is forward-looking and focused on your career goals, decisions and habits. It is not therapy, medical treatment, or mental health care, and it does not diagnose or treat any medical or mental health condition. If you have health concerns, please speak with your GP or a qualified mental health professional. Coaching can sit alongside professional support, but it is not a substitute for it.
How long are sessions and how often are they?
Sessions are 90-minute one-to-one online sessions, held weekly or monthly depending on the engagement.
Are sessions online?
Yes. Sessions are held online, so we work with clients across Australia.
Do you help people set up a coaching or consulting business?
Yes. We help experienced professionals and new coaches and consultants with their offer, how they describe it, and the practical systems and technology behind an online practice. This is coaching and consulting, not legal, financial or tax advice, and we don’t promise income, clients or business results. See business set-up support.
How do fees work?
Fees are tailored to each engagement and agreed in writing in your Coaching Agreement before any payment. See the Terms & Conditions for the detail.
What is the rescheduling and cancellation policy?
At least 24 hours’ notice is required to reschedule a session. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, or missed without notice, are treated as used and are not refundable, except in genuine emergencies, unless your Coaching Agreement says otherwise. See the Terms & Conditions for the detail.
What about refunds?
Unless your Coaching Agreement or a specific offer says otherwise, coaching packages are not refundable once the first session has been completed. Nothing in our terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. See the Terms & Conditions for the detail.
Are results guaranteed?
No. Outcomes are not guaranteed and depend on your own effort and circumstances. Coaching gives you structure, clarity and a plan; the work and the results are yours.
